He’s The King of Kings, a nickname with no hint of exaggeration considering that Triple H is essentially WWE royalty. From his days as a Greenwich snob, to his era-defining run as a co-founder of D-Generation X, to the time he spent shepherding future main eventers Randy Orton and Batista toward WWE greatness in Evolution, Triple H hasn’t just existed on the cutting edge, he’s been the one sharpening the blade.

A 13-time World Champion, The Game has clashed with a litany of ring legends to seize the throne as The King of Kings. The Rock, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, John Cena, even WWE Chairman Vince McMahon – each mowed down by the sledgehammer-wielding fist of The Cerebral Assassin. He has methodically and systematically usurped sports-entertainment, capturing every major WWE championship (multiple times), the King of the Ring crown, a Royal Rumble Match victory (2002) and the marquee spot at WrestleMania on several occasions, all throughout a career that spans nearly two decades.

As The Game’s role within WWE shifted from active competition, he used his squared circle acumen to nab the title of Chief Operating Officer and steer WWE toward some it’s most exciting and controversial moments in 2011. A bitter, personal rivalry with anti-authority crusader CM Punk tested Triple H’s resolve, and a mutiny by the whole Raw roster made it clear that even the combined power of an entire locker room couldn’t keep him down. Both situations necessitated The Cerebral Assassin’s return to the ring and, during each encounter – not to mention his five-star classic bout against The Phenom at WrestleMania XXVII – he demonstrated that, whether in a suit or trunks, he can still compete at the most elite level without missing a beat.

At WrestleMania XXVIII, after four years of battles between Triple H, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels, the trio participated in a post-bout curtain call that truly signified The End of an Era. Triple H’s passion for the squared circle burns hot and ensures that, no matter his role in WWE, those who choose to play The Game should be prepared to play by his rules.

Unfortunately, The Cerebral Assassin has had to deal with Brock Lesnar breaking those rules at every turn since the freakish brute’s return to WWE on the night after WrestleMania XXVIII. The WWE COO also couldn't escape the taunts of Lesnar's representative, Paul Heyman, who has slapped Triple H with lawsuits and insulted his family.

Three months after a heated confrontation with Lesnar where he broke The Game's arm, The King of Kings finally came face-to-face with Lesnar at The 25th Anniversary of SummerSlam. And despite mustering up a tenacious and valiant effort, The Game learned a painful lesson in helplessness as he was unable to overpower the beastly competitor. After the match, a humbled Triple H refused medical treatment — it was revealed the following morning that Lesnar had again broken his arm — and apologized to the capacity crowd that counted on him to get Lesnar under control.

The Cerebral Assassin selected The Grandest Stage of Them All to settle his differences with Brock, though. After signing the match contract, Paul Heyman revealed that the match between The Game and Brock Lesnar would not only be No Holds Barred, but The Cerebral Assassin would also be putting his career on the line.

With Shawn Michaels in his corner, The Game weathered everything Lesnar threw at him, from steel chairs to the metal ring steps, Triple H absorbed every blow and stood tall, taking out The Anomaly with a Pedigree on the steel steps. With Brock Lesnar defeated, Triple H's legendary in-ring career remained intact.

Tensions soon arose between Triple H, his wife Stephanie McMahon and his father-in-law Mr. McMahon, primarily regarding Daniel Bryan's bid to become WWE Champion. Though Mr. McMahon did not support the bearded wonder's quest, Triple H appeared to be firmly in his corner. In order to ensure a fair bid for the title, The Game made himself special referee for Bryan's match against John Cena at SummerSlam.

Whan Bryan defeated Cena, Triple H did the unthinkable, leveling the new champion long enough for Randy Orton to successfully cash in his Money in the Bank contract. Why he aided Orton, a longtime rival once responsible for unspeakable atrocities toward his family, to claim the WWE Championship is anyone’s guess. But it appears that Triple H has rewritten WWE’s future into a vision of his own choosing.

On Raw following SummerSlam, The Game, Mr. McMahon and Stephanie McMahon appeared to all be on the same page regarding what happened to Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton as WWE Champion. Together they welcomed The Viper as the face of WWE and humilated the former champion after calling him out to talk. By order of Triple H, The Shield and Randy Orton attacked a helpless Bryan as the entire WWE locker room watched – anyone aiding the bearded former WWE Champion would be fired.

The humiliation of Daniel Bryan was only The Cerebral Assassin's first order of business. Asserting his power as COO, Triple H fired Cody Rhodes after the son of WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes was unable to defeat the WWE Champion on Raw. He then forced Daniel Bryan to battle Big Show – a match that The World's Largest Athlete was ordered to compete in by both Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Leaving the contest, The Game forced Big Show to watch as Daniel Bryan suffered a Triple Powerbomb at the hands of The Shield before Stephanie McMahon ordered the giant to deliver a KO Punch.

Following Daniel Bryan's victory at Night of Champions, Triple H pointed out that WWE official Scott Armstrong made a fast count, thereby negating Bryan's championship win. As a result, The Game held the WWE Title in abeyance and fired Armstrong for allegedly conspiring with Daniel Bryan.

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon began to publicly embarrassed Big Show on numerous occasions, turning The World’s Largest Athlete into an unwitting weapon at their disposal.

Declaring he’d had enough of the abuse, Big Show vowed to knock out The Game on the Sept. 30 Raw. Before he had the opportunity, police officers intervened, leading to Stephanie stepping in and vouching for Big Show. She explained the duress he’d been under and callously called attention to marital problems Big Show is apparently suffering from at home.

The abuse by Triple H and Stephanie reared its ugly head at WWE Battleground when Big Show interrupted the bout between Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton for the vacant WWE Title and proceeded to knock out the two Superstars — and an official for good measure.

The next night on Raw, Big Show was fired for his actions at WWE Battleground, but retaliated by living up to his word and knocking out Triple H!

Before joining WWE, Levesque began his wrestling career with World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1993, wrestling under the ring name Terra Ryzing. He changed his ring name to Jean-Paul Lévesque before joining WWE in 1995, which was then known as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF).

Since joining WWE, he has become an 11-time world champion: a six-time WWE Champion and a five-time World Heavyweight Champion. In addition, he won the 1997 King of the Ring, the 2002 Royal Rumble, and was the second Grand Slam Champion.

He married Stephanie McMahon in 2003, becoming the son-in-law of WWE chairman Vince McMahon. Outside of wrestling, Levesque has made numerous guest appearances in film and on television. He is starring in the upcoming WWE Film Journey of Death.

At the age of 14, he became aware of bodybuilding. After graduating high school in 1987, he entered several body building competitions. Levesque was crowned Teenage Mr. New Hampshire at the age of 19. During this time, he met Ted Arcidi and began to consider a career in professional wrestling.

Career

Early career

Levesque enrolled at Killer Kowalski's wrestling school in 1992 after it was recommended to him by Ted Arcidi. Triple H made his in-ring return at SummerSlam 2007, defeating King Booker. In the same event, Triple H also defeated Umaga in his first title defense after Mr. McMahon declared his already-scheduled bout with Umaga a title match. McMahon then announced Orton would receive a title rematch in a Last Man Standing match in the final match of the event; which Orton won after an RKO, thus ending Triple H's sixth reign. Triple H's title reign at No Mercy is the fourth shortest reign in WWE history, only lasting through the duration of the event. In the RAW Elimination Chamber at No Way Out, Triple H earned himself a Championship match at WrestleMania XXIV, by outlasting five other men.
